Too many movies nowadays are ruined by endings that just don't work. They can be ludicrous plot twists, lapses of logic, or a misunderstanding of what actually happened in the previous two hours the viewer just watched. Digital effects have only improved as the years have passed. To avoid being too unfair, this list will only focus on films that are relatively recent, or ones that could have utilized more practical effects to achieve their visual goals. Not all of these films are completely meritless, but sometimes, truly ugly CGI can be hard to look past.
A new hilarious movie is the Bridesmaids; a story of Annie who is awful at love and is being stuck as a Maid of Honor to her best friend's wedding. With Annie and her bridesmaids (with whom have different characters), they go into one adventure from another in order toorganizeLillian's big day. Some films use CGI very carefully to enhance practical effects, like in Mad Max: Fury Road. Other films rely very heavily on CGI, like the colorful fever dream that is The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl.
CGI is an important tool that must be utilized with absolute care, and as many filmmakers have learned, poorly executed CGI can sink a movie, even if the movie has potential. An unlikely friend, Chloe helps Dr. Grey to realize that neither of the two are insane, but are driven by an outside force beyond one's wildest imagination. As an open channel to clairvoyance and a medium to spiritual entities, Miranda soon discovers her husband's deep, dark secret.
Halle Berry stars as Miranda Grey, a criminal psychologist working in Woodward Penitentiary for Women. Counseling "Chloe," (played by Penelope Cruz), Dr. Grey, in her medical expertise, does not fully grasp Chloe's rantings and ravings. As she leaves work on a stormy night, she runs off an embankment, avoiding a nude girl standing in the rainsoaked highway. Some critics have entirely missed the context of this storyline, and have given this movie a bad review, I beg to differ.
"Gothika," the newest production from Dark Castle Entertainment is the culmination of clairvoyance and poltergeist entertwined into one spectacular ride of an individual's innermost emotions and physical reactions. Coming to her senses, she awakens to find herself as an inmate in Woodward, herself. Dr. Pete Graham (Robert Downey, Jr.) another staff psychiatrist and coworker of Grey, attempts to decipher Miranda's mindset and how she violently 'murdered' her own husband, Douglas (Charles S.
Dutton) in the preceding three days. Having no recollection of the ensuing events after her car accident, Miranda is traumatized and nearly catatonic. This is a great accompanying gift for a Netflix subscription.
